Our Vision for PE
St. Oswald’s C of E Primary School is a school of healthy, happy and active learners who all understand the importance of leading a healthy and physically active lifestyle. We care about our bodies, making healthy choices and challenging ourselves to build on our skills in all areas of the curriculum. We are competitive in the sporting challenges we face but we understand good sportsmanship and that it’s just as important to take part.
Sports Premium
From September 2013 until 2020 the government is giving £150million per annum in to primary schools to improve the provision of physical education with school. The money is given by Department of Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport (through Sport England. Each school will receive approximately £8,000 plus £5 per pupil.

The following is a summary of how we spent the 2014/2015 Sport Premium monies. The priorities have been identified by using the Youth Sport /trust self – review tool in relation to PE, sport and physical activity.
In order to access expertise and appropriate support the school is working in collaboration with Leeds Active Schools, The Youth Sports Trust (YST) and the Sainsbury’s School Games to support the priorities.
Membership of Leeds Active Schools providing support, resources and development opportunities for staff.
Professional development for teachers to increase their skills, knowledge, understanding and confidence in the delivery of the new PE curriculum.
More opportunities to be physically active provided for all children through an increased number of school sports clubs.
Opportunities to work in partnership with local schools to promote healthy competition.
Outdoor and adventurous activities, utilising the schools grounds and facilities as well as outside providers.
Sport coaches, used in conjunction with the teaching staff, provided both high quality provision and staff development.
