St. Oswald's Parish Church
The school visits church every other Thursday for a short service led by the Rector, Rev. David Pickett. These are always great fun as Father David definitely has his own way of bringing the Christian message to life for children!
Father David and "St Aidan"
On the alternate Thursdays, church comes to us. Their Open The Book team lead Collective Worship in school, telling stories from the Bible using drama.
We also visit Church for many of the notable celebrations in the Christian Calendar, such as Harvest, Christmas and Easter. At the end of the Summer Term we have our annual Thanksgiving Service to thank God for the academic year that is drawing to a close.
In addition to all of this, Father David is also a very welcome regular visitor in school, talking to staff and children alike. He even helps with our football team!
As a school community we are also involved in the everyday life of the church. As well as having two of Father David's children come to St Oswald's, some of our other families and some Governors attend St Oswald's as part of the congregation. We have children who are regular members of the church choir and some of our children have been confirmed at the church, having gone through the church confirmation classes. We have also raised money for the appeal to restore the church tower.
